Come Out and Play – Mama Dragons 2019 Fundraiser Event

On Friday, October 11, 2019, the Mama Dragons held their first fundraiser event, Come Out and Play, at the Church and State in downtown Salt Lake City. This event was spectacular and a night anyone who attended will always remember. Guests entered the event and observed the Church and State decked out in true Mama Dragons glam. Checking in, guests were treated with an envelope with their coupon for the signature Dragons-themed Mocktails and raffle where they could view the many donated prizes. Guests won purses, spa packages, trips, airfare and many other wonderful items. The non-gambling Casino, Minute-to-Win-It games and Prize-Wheel were an extravagance to be enjoyed by all.

Oh, and let’s talk about the food. It was AMAZING! Smoked pork, grilled beef sliders, gourmet macaroni and cheese (I saw many go back for seconds and thirds), salad, antipasto, Ruby Snap Cookies and Iceberg Drive-In shakes for dessert.

After partaking of the deliciousness, we were delighted with the incredible Drag show. The performers were phenomenal and gave of their time and talent to dazzle us.

Guests were delighted to hear from our Mama Dragons President, Wendy VonSosen, and our Board Chair, Jen Blair, who both emphasized the importance of the Mama Dragons mission to support, educate, and empower mothers of LGBTQIA children and shared how grateful we are for all who attended to help fund and further the programs needed to support our LGBTQIA children – our vision being a world where ALL mothers fiercely love and advocate for their LGBTQIA children.

So many volunteered their time and talents to make this event a success. One major contributor was one of our very own Mama Dragons, Marion McClellan. She quilted the most amazing Mama Dragons quilt that was auctioned off. Her talent is one to be realized! The quilt had guests bidding until the very last minute before the winner (Alison Henriksen) was announced.
