MAMA DRAGONS BEGAN. . .
in 2013 as a handful of mothers in a group chat navigating the shared experience of parenting queer kids within a conservative religion and community.
SINCE THEN. . .
we’ve grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serving nearly 11,000 mothers worldwide from a variety of backgrounds.
OUR MISSION. . .
is to ensure that no mother feels alone on this journey and to help families affirm and celebrate their LGBTQ+ children.
WHAT WE DO. . .
Peer-to-Peer Support
Mama Dragons offers online support groups for mothers of LGBTQ+ children. These private peer-led groups offer a safe place to navigate the new waters of parenting an LGBTQ+ child.
LIFT Group Therapy
LIFT is bi-monthly therapist-led support groups to help parents whose LGBTQ+ children are actively struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, suicidal ideation and other mental health issues.
Paper Hugs
This program gives Mama Dragons a chance to send cards of support and encouragement to their fellow Mama Dragons and LGBTQ+ children and to receive them as well.
