Get Involved with Mama Dragons

TAKE ACTION

Mama Dragons began with a handful of mothers trying to figure out how to love their children well. It has grown because people kept showing up.

Parents, allies, neighbors, and companies all have something to offer, and not everyone has the same time, the same story, or the same skills. That's fine. There is a way in for each of us.

Love is powerful, but love in action changes lives. Pick the way that fits yours.

Volunteer Your Time and Talent

Some of the best friendships in this community started with someone saying, "What can I do to help?"

Every volunteer opportunity will be listed right here on this page. Each one comes with a description, the skills it needs, and a place to sign up, so you can see what's involved before you say yes.

There are opportunities for Mama Dragons community members, for corporate partners, and for anyone in the community who wants to help LGBTQ+ families feel less alone. Some are made for individuals. Others are made for teams, so you can bring your coworkers or your whole group.

Browse what's open. Find the one that fits your time and your skills. Then sign up.

Table With Us at Pride and Community Events

Walk through any Pride festival and you will find LGBTQ+ people looking for something many of them have gone without: a parent who says, out loud and without conditions, you are loved.

Our members make sure they find one. As representatives of Mama Dragons, they host Pride booths, film screenings, and community tables, and they are some of the most welcoming faces in the room. Tabling is also one of the best ways to meet other Mama Dragons in person, and to meet the neighbors who stop by with a question they have been carrying for a while.

Check the calendar on this page for upcoming events, and come say hello.

Host a Speaker or an Event

Want Mama Dragons in your community? We would love to come.

Whether it's a congregation, a school, a workplace, or a neighborhood gathering, hosting a speaker or an event is one of the most direct ways to widen the circle of support for LGBTQ+ families where you live.

Share Your Story

Facts matter. Stories are what people remember.

Your story might be the one someone else needed to hear, whether they are a parent sitting in a parked car, a neighbor who has never thought about any of this, or a young person wondering if they will be loved. Share it in your own words, on your own terms.

If your story includes your child, share only what they are comfortable with. It is their life, too.

Send Care Through Our Give Back Programs

Sometimes love needs something you can hold.

Through Wrapped in Hugs, Paper Hugs, and Hugs for Heroes, Mama Dragons members send tangible reminders of love, solidarity, and hope to families facing hard moments.

Embracelets are handmade bracelets we share with the LGBTQ+ community as a sign of our love and support. These programs are carried out by our members.

Small things. Made by hand. Sent with care.

Wear Your Pride

You don't need a booth or a microphone to show up. Sometimes it's a shirt at the grocery store, a pin on a backpack, or a bracelet at the school pickup line.

Wear it where people can see it. For someone who is watching quietly, that visibility can mean more than you know.

Join Our Board

Every organization is only as strong as the people who guide it. Mama Dragons has rolling board positions open, and we are always looking for our next great board member.

If you care about LGBTQ+ families and want to help steer an organization that is growing, we would love to meet you. Bring your skills, your perspective, and your willingness to show up. You'll find the board application with our volunteer opportunities on this page.

Partner with Us

Through partnerships, we can expand our life-changing programs, such as Empowered Parent Learning, and peer support communities, to reach more families in need.

Together, we can amplify awareness, provide critical resources, and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights to foster a more inclusive, accepting world for all.

Take Your Next Step

The challenges our families face are real. So is what happens when people decide to show up.

Choose one. Do it this week.
