Human-Centered AI and Family Privacy Policy
Mama Dragons is a human organization. We use AI and imagery to support our people and protect our families, never to replace either. This policy applies to staff, board, volunteers, and contractors.
Our commitment
AI supports our people. It never replaces their judgment, their care, or their accountability. A human reviews and approves everything AI helps create before it reaches the public, our members, donors, or partners, and takes responsibility for it. AI does not make decisions about people, and it never speaks for our families.
How we use AI
-
Human approval. Anything external needs review by the sender and a named approver. AI never sends or publishes on its own.
-
People, not automation, for families. Member support, crisis, and safety conversations are handled by humans only.
-
Privacy first. No names, stories, photos, or identifying details about members or their children go into AI tools unless the tool has been approved.
-
Real stories stay real. No invented quotes, testimonials, or voices. We verify every statistic, claim, and link, and credit original sources.
-
Bias check. Reviewers look for stereotypes and deficit-only portrayals of LGBTQ+ people before anything goes out.
-
Approved tools only. New tools are cleared with the policy owner first.
Imagery
-
The real stories of our families are the heart of Mama Dragons, and stock photos never replace them. In a moment when visibility can carry real risk, we use licensed stock imagery so no family has to expose themselves to help others feel less alone.
-
Stock images illustrate themes. They are never presented as real members or paired with captions or quotes that imply they are.
-
Real photos and stories require written consent, with options like first name only or anonymous, and can be withdrawn at any time.
-
We do not use identifiable photos of children by default.
-
Images reflect the real range of our families, avoiding stereotypes.
-
AI-generated people are never passed off as real members.
-
A named person confirms each image's license covers its use.
Accountability
The Executive Director owns this policy and may name a policy owner. Anyone can raise a concern without blame. We review the policy at least once a year.
